Kenzie’s Chromosome Crusaders is an all volunteer-based, registered 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that is focused on supporting and encouraging parents who have received a diagnosis of Down syndrome for their child either prenatally or after birth. We currently serve central and northeastern Missouri as well as middle Georgia (where Kenzie was born).
Understanding the uncertainty and fears that can come with a prenatal diagnosis firsthand, Mark and Macy Johnson set out to help other parents know they are never alone on their journey with Down syndrome and Kenzie’s Chromosome Crusaders was organized in October 2016.
We provide information packets to expectant parents through doctor’s offices and clinics as well as by mail, and our newborn gift baskets are distributed at hospitals after the birth of a child with Down syndrome. These baskets are lovingly packaged with books, pamphlets from top-leading national Down syndrome organizations, an embroidered blanket, a custom onesie, a toy and other special items to help encourage parents after the birth of their child.
We are also always happy to help families find connections with others in their area, locate support groups both local to them or online and provide or help locate any additional resources for support when needed.
If you have questions about any of our services or if you would like to request information or support, please contact us using the form provided or message us on Facebook at Kenzie’s Chromosome Crusaders.
